Sarah Pickstone

Sarah Pickstone (b. 1965, Manchester) is a London-based painter whose work is lyrical, light, and richly gestural. She studied at the British School at Rome (Rome Scholarship, 1991) and has won the John Moores Painting Prize (2012) for Stevie Smith and the Willow. Her paintings appear in major collections including the Royal Academy, Saatchi Collection, Walker Art Gallery, Mercer Art Gallery, Société Générale, and British School at Rome. She continues to show widely in Europe and internationally. Pickstone’s work feels like a place between memory and myth, where feminine narratives dissolve into poetic gestures - not static but softly resonant, timeless yet immediate.
