C. Lucy R. Whitehead (b. 1991, Liverpool; lives in London) paints soft, alien forms that echo the body while resisting its legibility. Trained in drawing at Camberwell and painting at the Royal College of Art, she works from maquettes and sketches to create organisms that feel at once clinical and dreamlike. Her solo exhibitions include Mollis Machina (Soho Revue, 2024) and Cuckoo Land (Megan Mulrooney Gallery, Los Angeles, 2025), alongside group shows at Flowers Gallery, Mint Munich, and Tabula Rasa Beijing. Whitehead’s pinkish, tubular shapes evoke flesh, cosmetics, or medical diagrams, yet never resolve into identities. Hovering between intimacy and estrangement, her paintings suggest bodies in flux – comic, unsettling, and quietly absurd.
