Rooted in Mesopotamia and the Euphrates region where she grew up, Dişli’s practice examines the entanglements between geological time, ecological transformation, material histories, and systems of knowledge. Moving between field research, photographic processes, and material experimentation, her work engages with soil, minerals, volcanic rock, photographic chemistry, organic matter, and archival materials to investigate how environmental and cultural histories become materially inscribed, transformed, and transmitted.
Her work has been presented internationally, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Havana Biennial, Foto Wien, Pera Museum, Krakow Photo Month, and Rencontres d’Arles. In 2018, The New York Times highlighted Dişli as one of “7 Promising Photographers to Watch.” She lives and works between Istanbul and New York.
