Raphaella Pester’s practice is based on themes of memory, preservation, and nature. She investigates these themes through a geometric language of abstraction, often using craft-based processes, painting and printmaking. Her work references the landscape, primarily using hand gathered pigments to help form an understanding of our relationship to the natural world. Pester completed an MFA at The Slade School of Art in 2023, receiving multiple awards including; the Wolfgang Spoerl Scholarship for printmaking (2023), the Clifford Chance Purchase prize (2023) and the Bartolomeu dos Santos Memorial Award (2023). In 2024 she completed a residency at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives and in 2025, received The Collector’s Group bursary award from Firstsite, Colchester.
